Foundation

Orthopaedic Surgeons at the Crystal Clinic are the first to establish a chapter of the Hawkins Foundation in their hometown of Akron, Ohio. Named as The Bell Chapter in honor of long time leader, Dr. Robert H. Bell - this chapter now takes up the mission of improving orthopaedic outcomes through research and education alongside their colleagues in South Carolina.

Dr. Robert Bell
Dr. Robert H. Bell recently retired from the Crystal Clinic after 31 years as a member of the Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center. In addition to his local leadership, Dr. Bell was very active in the orthopaedic industry and served as president of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons society in 2014.
A physician since 1979, Dr. Bell specialized in shoulder surgery, with an interest in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery. He received numerous honors and teaching appointments throughout his career and belongs to several local, state and national medical associations. He has been published and presented extensively and is a clinical associate professor of orthopaedic surgery at Northeast Ohio Medical University.
After graduating from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Dr. Bell completed his orthopaedic residency at Summa Akron City Hospital and Akron Children’s Hospital, after which he undertook a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery with Dr. Richard Hawkins at the University of Western Ontario.

Curtis Noel MD - Dr. Noel is a respected, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon in Akron, OH specializing in Shoulder and Elbow conditions, as well as, sports injuries.
Robert (Bobby) Cooper - Robert is a local entrepreneur who has spent most of his career in real estate. He currently owns CREM Real Estate Properties and works for CBRE Real Estate.
David Kay MD - Dr Kay has extensive experience in the management of various types of orthopaedic conditions. His services include both surgical and non-surgical treatments and he specializes in modern surgical techniques for joint replacement, reconstruction, trauma and fracture care, and treatment of sports injuries.
Mark Krohn - Mark is a partner with Brouse McDowell and a member of the Corporate & Securities practice group. He has extensive experience representing businesses in critical strategic initiatives, including planning, growth, contract negotiation, succession planning, estate planning, risk management, asset protection and synergistic partnerships
Ajay Mahajan - Ajay is the Associate Vice President for Innovation at The University of Akron. He also serves as the Associate Dean for Research in the College of Engineering as well as a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering with a joint appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
